This is what happens when you grow up watching Walter Mercado (Astrologist on Univision) all your life.

You end up reading horoscope capatablity instead of studying your bacteria!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So I don’t really believe this stuff but I love to read it just the same. Call me retarded.

Aries Man & Libra Woman

This is not a great match and it is very unlikely to lead to lasting love. You and an Aries boy may seem to be a terrific match at first. You’ve both got great minds, curious approaches to life and you both love to talk and to socialize. Unfortunately, while you hate arguing and always want everything to be peaceful, Aries boys love to fight! They’ll even play devil’s advocate to start a fight for no reason… they actually think this is fun. All this conflict will make you feel constantly uneasy and stressed out. He will also get tired of you flip-flopping on your decisions, because he’s a charge ahead guy who likes to set a mission and then carry it out. He’s just not flexible or calm enough for you, and there will be no harmony in this relationship. You may be super-attracted to him, but that can only take you so far. A great match for a short-term fling, but disaster in the long-term.

Refined Libra girl is ready and willing to play delicate flower next to Aries tough and strong exterior, but in the long haul, Aries boy might be a tad too aggressive and rough around the edges. Enjoy it while it lasts, because it certainly won’t be boring!

Taurus Man & Libra Woman

This match doesn’t have high hopes for success. You might initially be drawn to a Taurus boy for his curious, sensitive side. You both share a love of music, film and art that can form a bond between you. However, after that you are pretty much different in every way. You are social and you love getting together to go out with a big group of friends. Meanwhile, he is very possessive and he’ll get jealous of the time you spend with other people, even your best girlfriend. You’ll find his whining about this very tiresome. He will also be very jealous with you and he’ll take your innocent flirtations way too seriously. He’ll never feel secure with you, and you’ll never feel understood. Give this match a pass.

What Libra girl and Taurus boy have in common is a great love of quality, but similar shopping tastes do not a great relationship make. This is not to say this can’t be a workable relationship-just as long as you keep your cool when Taurus is in one of his moods.

Gemini Man & Libra Woman

This is tied with Aquarius as your number-one soulmate love match. A Gemini boy is an ideal partner for a Libra girl. The chemistry between you will be sizzling and your kissing sessions will be filled with fireworks! You will be excited by his outgoing, sociable personality and you’ll find him a very charming guy. You two will have amazing conversations together, because you both have intelligent minds and you’re well-matched intellectually. This relationship can make you both feel confident and wonderful in all departments. The only problem: you both have a lot of trouble making decisions. If you can live with that, though, you’ll do very well with a Gemini boy. A soulmate match.

Thrilling and passionate! Both air signs, Libra girl is both inspired and captivated by Gemini boy, who is never at a loss for words (or deeds) of love. It’s a true case of mutual attraction at its finest, so enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Cancer Man & Libra Woman

This match is not meant to be. You may go into this relationship with high hopes, but you are bound to disappoint each other in almost every way. He thinks saving money is very important; you love to shop. He has a practical approach to everything; you are flexible and easygoing, preferring to take things as they come. He is pessimistic; you are optimistic. He is a master at hiding his emotions from everyone including you; you die without tons of attention and affection. There’s not even much romantic chemistry to bond you two together. You’ll both be unhappy in a relationship together. It’s a match that’s better left unmade.

Romance will reign supreme in this relationship. It’s the stuff that fantasies are made of! However, once the movie’s over, Libra, you may find yourself slightly annoyed by Cancer’s possessiveness and need to know where and what you’re doing 24-and-7. It’s only with careful communication that this relationship has a chance for success.

Leo Man & Libra Woman

This match has high hopes of lasting and becoming real love. You are both outgoing, social people who adore drama and excitement. You both love being the star of the show, and you’ll have a great time going out together. You love beautiful things, and he is generous with his money. You love laughing, trying new things and having fun, and his zest for life will guarantee that you’re always amused and never bored. Your physical chemistry will sparkle. Leo boys also love to take charge of things, and that’s great for you because you hating having to make decisions. He also loves shopping for clothes! He does need a lot of praise, but if you don’t mind giving it to him he’ll pay you back with lots of compliments. All in all, a wonderful love match.

Libra girl, with Leo boy you have a worthy candidate for partnership. He knows how to dress, treats you with respect and admiration, and will never forget how lucky he is to have you on his arm. The only potential pratfall of this relationship: in time he may become a bit possessive, so if you don’t like clingy, have a one-to-one that spells out your concerns.

Virgo Man & Libra Woman

This match does not have much chance of working out. You are a loving and affectionate person who likes to show her emotions. The Virgo boy is reserved and low-key, preferring to keep his emotions to himself. It’s almost impossible for a Libra girl to get an “I love you” out of this guy. You will actually end up getting very depressed after a while with him, because he is overly critical and can see the dark side in everything. Meanwhile, you are a sunny optimist and you need a love partner who shares your happy outlook on life. He is also very fussy, which drives you crazy in a boyfriend. He’s not “guy” enough for you. This is not a good love match.

Libra girl, Virgo guy needs your TLC just as much as you need his, but he’s going to be a little more coy about letting you know how he really feels. Showing his true feelings to the world is not one of his big strengths, but it is one of yours. Once you both are able to eliminate fear of baring your souls, this can be a match made in heaven.

Libra & Libra

This is not a bad connection, but boredom can be a definite risk as you will both expect to be entertained. Your lazy nature when it comes to domestic chores will also be a problem if you can’t afford to hire help.

You might think you would make a good match with another Libra, but it doesn’t usually work out that way. You will be very happy in the romance department, because both of you love kissing (and you’re good at it) and you both love doing little romantic things for each other. Unfortunately, two Libras almost always get bored of each other after a while. Libras, both boys and girls, need a love partner who’s a little bit different than them, someone who has qualities to complement and balance theirs. You are probably too much alike to last long. Not the greatest match.

When Libra girl gets together with Libra boy, things can be completely fab. It’s when things aren’t going so well that you have to put your egos aside and listen to each other, even if you don’t like what the other person is saying. Agree to respect each other and you’ll exist in bliss!

All the traits of the sign in common. Neither wants to face reality but are peace loving, and adaptable but need a stronger balance than the other can provide. Because of the likeness there is a tendency for boredom.

Libra Woman & Scorpio Man

This match doesn’t usually work out very well. You can easily be drawn to a Scorpio boy. You are fascinated by his intense personality and you can have good conversations with him. He’ll also pay you a lot of attention and be complimentary to you. However, he has a seriously bad controlling side that will probably sink this relationship before it can get off the ground. The Scorpio boy always has to have his way. Even though you like it when someone makes decisions for you, you do like them to listen to your opinion. He won’t - he wants to call all the shots, and he thinks he’s always right. You won’t think so. He will also be very suspicious when you innocently flirt with other boys, and he will jump to the worst conclusions. This is too volatile a mix to work. Not a good match.

You’re concerned with not only what looks good, but what makes people good. Scorpio boy is drawn to your beauty and need to run with the crowd. A workable pairing? Yes, as long as your social self can deal with the fact that sometimes, Scorpio boy will want to be left alone when you want to kick up your heels.

Libra Woman & Sagittarius Man

This match can be very good if he’s willing to commit to it. His adventurous spirit and amazing energy is fascinating to you. You’ll find yourself being more creative around him, and you’ll learn to really be as spontaneous as you’ve always known you could be. You will laugh a lot together, as your senses of humor are very similar. He’s very funny and he loves to make you happy. The physical chemistry between you two will also be very strong. The only drawback is, while you are a flirt who never means anything by it, he is a flirt who has a tendency to fool around on his girlfriends. If he can stay faithful, however, this relationship can be a lot of fun and it can turn into the “real thing.” A good match.

Libra girl is fascinated by Sadge boy’s carefree attitude and ability to attract a crowd anywhere he goes. As any good Libra girl can tell you, it’s a talent that doesn’t come easy for all signs of the zodiac. He’ll pledge his love to you, but you can’t always count on him in the long haul. This doesn’t make him bad, just different from you.

Libra Woman & Capricorn Man

This is a very unlikely match that has not much chance of lasting past the first date. You may be drawn to a Capricorn boy’s physical charms, but you will hate his stick-in-the-mud personality. Anything fun you can think of to do, he can think of five reasons why you shouldn’t do it. It’s like having a third parent to deal with! You love to goof off and have a great time, while he wants to do homework and work on his pet projects, like building his own computer from scratch. He won’t approve of your spending sprees or your less-than-serious approach to life. You’ll find him dull, dull, dull. This relationship won’t last long. A poor match.

Libra girl loves Capricorn’s attraction to quality. Not just the girl he’s with (you) but his love of the finer things in life. The only not so great thing? Librans love to socialize, and sometimes your Capricorn boy will see your pursuits as a waste of time and money.

Libra Woman & Aquarius Man

If he can get past the commitment problem and if she can get past the decision problem, they will never part. But be prepared for a long courtship…

This is tied with Gemini as your number-one soulmate match. The Aquarius boy has got a wild and experimental approach to romance that will fascinate and charm you. The chemistry between you two is dynamite. You also have a lot in common, including a great love of socializing. Your intellects are very similar and you can have amazing, thoughtful conversations on almost any topic. He is also very drawn to music and the arts, just like you. You have a very good influence on him too, helping him see the world in the most positive possible light. Together, you make an unbeatable team. Just watch out for the sarcasm - he sometimes fights nasty. But with your charm and loving nature, you can tame this beast and make him your loving honey. A soulmate match.

Libra girl, you think you have it going on? Aquarius boy falls in your 5th house of fun, which means there’s never a dull moment when you both meet up. Best thing is, he inspires your mind to new heights, and encourages you to stand tall on your own without having to suffer arm candy status.

Libra Woman & Pisces Man

This match can last for a while but it is very unlikely to last or become a true love. The relationship between a Pisces boy and Libra girl can start out with incredible romance. He is a dreamer with his head in a fantasy world, and a deep need for love and passion. You share his need for a deep and meaningful love, but you’re a bit flighty and airy too. The problem here is that there is no balance. Each of you needs to be paired with a strong personality who can balance your ethereal tendencies. Unfortunately, you won’t find that balance together. You each need a different kind of partner to make a relationship work. There will also be clashes because you both like the world to revolve around you- and there’s only one world to go around. You two are a little too self-involved to look out for each other the way you should. A match that is not made to last.

Libra girl is such an asset to Pisces boy-he’s your dream project, and in him you see great potential. He’s one of the most romantic signs of the zodiac, and you both share an extraordinary love of music and beauty. Problems should only arise when you approach matters from an intellectual standpoint, and he’s guided by his heart.

My trip to Bolivia

I’m sure all of you are pretty ticked off at me for not bloggin’ while I was on my month-long vacay… but I have a good excuse. Just listen please! I was partyin’ too hard & living it up! Excuse me for having a life! lol. Just kiddin’. Seriously though, I never had time to sit at a computer and when I did, I was too exhausted from whatever I did that day to actually form interesting and coherent sentences. Now that I’m back though I feel duty-bound to tell you all the juicy details of my trip.

First order of business. I know you are all going to ask me if I met any hotties! Well, let me tell you this vacation was not without eye candy. I was actually pretty surprised I’d see a handful of attractive men on the street on a daily basis. Last time the only guys I thought were attractive were related to me! Talk about bummer!!! But this time wasn’t so bad in Bolivia. I was disappointed in Argentina though. It was like they were all hiding or something. I was so mad. Argentine guys are like my weak spot. Their accent, Johnny Depp looks, and charming demeanor are like my No.1 Turn on… but NOPE! I was not so lucky… maybe next time. Maybe they all live in Buenos Aires. Who knows! I will have to definitely investigate that matter further at a later date. So in CONCLUSION. I’m not married. I did not run off with an exotic gaucho/cowboy from Salta. Too bad! So Sad! lol

Next. Family. I got to see all my aunts/uncles and my cousins too in Bolivia. My dad has a total of 8 bros/sis so as you can imagine I have a biggggggggg familia. The nice part is that my cousins’ ages range from 30-22… so basically we are all in the same age group with similiar interests and whatnot. When I went to Cochabamba where most my cousins live, we all went out to dinner together at this awesome restaurant. The meat in Bolivia and Argentina is spectacular. All they have to do is put salt on the steak, ribs, sausages and voila. Instant MAGIC. Holy cow! If you ever go to South America please go eat some bbq. Your mouth and tummy will thank you!!! lol. So anyways, all my family was really nice to me. I’m not super affectionate person, but it was so nice just laying in bed looking up at the ceiling and chatting with my cousins about life as we know it. Those kind of things money can’t buy. My dad brought his karaoke machine and HOLY MOLEY! My family is full of wannabe American Idols! lol. The music would start around 4PM and go onto 7AM. Usually I’m the last to drop, but even I was fallin’ asleep on the coach at one point!

NATURE’S BEAUTY. So let me tell you. Tarija IS GORGEOUS! It was like stepping into a tropical dream reminiscent of a Spanish Villa… or what I think a Spanish Villa must be like. The houses have white cement walls and red adobe roofs, balconies with black iron fences and trees filled with either fruit or flowers. The people in Tarija are so welcoming and kind. You say, “Hello” to one of them and for some odd reason… thereafter, they feel like family to you. On are last day there a Taxi driver heard that it was my first time there and spent the whole trip telling jokes and stories about Tarija and it’s people. We were already at are destination and he goes, “hold on, one more!” lol!!! It was so great to be in Tarija. La Paz (the capital of Bolivia) is cold and the houses are scattered along mountains. It reminded me of New York actually. The drivers are insanely aggressive and the people walking along the Plaza (Downtown area) are like native NYers busying about Times Square. Seriously TOO MUCH PEOPLE!!! Cochabamba has warm climate and the main attraction there is “El Cristo de Concordia”. A huge Christ figure on top of the peak of a mountain. It’s kind of like seeing the statue of liberty (identical to the Christ statue from Brazil). You can actually go into the statue and there are little peak holes on each level so you can see all of CBBA. Pretty sweet! … Oruro is a small town that mainly lives off of gold/silver/other mineral mines. It is cold as F*** there. Kinda like Chicago in the winter. We went to see the Virgen Mary there and even went down into a real mine. DOPENESS! Salta, Argentina was just like Bolivia. What is the big deal about Argentina??? I thought it was going to be completely different… but nope. It’s just a regular country with (hiding) sexy men with accents. Anyways, I went up a mountain there in a lil skiing-type cabbie. When you are up there, they have cafeterias, artisan shops, and waterfalls. I even met this dude there… but I think he was gay! :( He said he loved the SPICE GIRLS. Yeah… he was gay. lol!

So thus concludes my brief (but long-winded) synopsis of my trip to Bolivia and Argentina. OH YEAH! The US Dollar ain’t work tish!!! Everything in Bolivia was expensive. Even the gold. DAMN YOU GEORGE W. BUSH!!!! I need my money to be worth something… it’s so hard for me to actually get some as it is.

DAY 1: Let’s get this show on the road

As soon as we woke up we went to Mass - Junior (my bro), my mom & I.

My dad went to bed super late because, like always, he waited until the last minute to pack his things… so he couldn’t go with us.

After mass ended: I took a shower as soon as we got home.  My bro & mom went to Pepe’s Tacos and got us some lunch because there was no way we were gonna make it on time to the airport if my mom was going to cook. I took the fastest shower of my life and by the time I was done my bro was back with the food. As soon as we finished eating it was time to head over to the airport.

Our flight time was 4:05PM with American Airlines, so we had to be there at around 2PM. Unfortunately, we got there at 2:45. The good thing is that O’Hare is super quick with check-in. It has a computer system you  can do on your own. You can even swipe your passports through it for Identity confirmation. So we did that in ~10 minutes and went through security & onto our gate without any problems. We didn’t have problems in Miami either since our luggage went straight to La Paz. We didn’t have to deal with hauling any of it around during the lay-over. When we arrived in Miami it started to rain. This caused our flight to be delayed ~2 hours! So we were in Miami from about 8:30-12:30 doing nothing. We ate dinner at Uno’s Pizzeria (because it said it had Chicago-style Pizza). My dad and I both ate some peperoni pizza and drank bottle water.

On the flight from Miami to La Paz they played the movie “Becoming Jane.” A film about Jane Austen that I had already rented at home. I loved it so I made my dad watch the ending and he actually seemed to like it. My mom on the other hand didn’t like it at all because of the british accents. LAME-O!

Anyways, after the movie ended I put my head on my dad’s shoulder and slept as best I could. Trust me a 8 hour flight on any plane can put your whole body to sleep!

We Remember

On February 17th, I will remember someone’s birthday. On February 19th, I will remember their passing at age 67. That someone is my grandfather, who to me is and forever will be My Uva.

I received an e-mail today from my Uncle who remembered it was his birthday coming up and he wrote me one of the nicest messages I have read. He had met him while here vacation many years ago and so he mentioned how he remembered how great my Uva was… how quick he was to make friends and offer help. When I finished reading it I felt at such a loss… a loss that, almost on a daily basis, I feel deep in my heart. Sometimes it’s just a quick pang of regret and others a moment of pure agony.

Eight years ago my grandfather past away suddently of a heart attack. My family & I lived almost an hour from him so we raced over to meet them in the Emergency Room. Because it was only two days after his birthday I had his birthday card with me when we went to see him… hoping he would be alright. I Unfortunately, only his body was present. I kept thinking, “Did I tell him ‘I love you’?” last time we spoke for his birthday… “Did I tell him how much I cared?” So many things pop in your mind when you lose a family member, especially suddenly. I knew that none of it mattered because from then on my life would change… and it did. So many things have past in these eight years. I graduated High School… received countless awards he would have been proud of seeing me get… graduated from UIC with two Bachelors… and will become a doctor soon enough. All these things in my life that feel somehow less exciting, less interesting… less everything… without him there to appreciate it.

My Uva was the best grandfather I could have ever dreamed of having. He was so dynamic. One of those people that you will never forget even if you tried. He was a true Cuban… loud, proud, and smart.  He would buy cars like most people buy a new outfit. You didn’t like the color of his new car… he’d go the next day and trade it in. It was so much fun because he’d buy a new car and as his grandkid you were the first to get a ride about town. He would make these noises while he drived… like a police siren as he sped along Montrose Avenue. He’d hold your hand and play old classical music on a trip to the groceries. It was the coolest thing to sit in the front seat with him. It was like you were on top of the world. I even think he let my brother drive one time when he was just a 5 or 7 year old. No one will ever be like him and I’m so happy he was my grandfather.

I know from up above in a world so high he still remembers to check up on us and brag about us with all the angels. He loved to brag about his grandkids to everyone. I could meet someone new who’s known him and they will already know all about me. It’s pretty nice. I love it and I love him. Today, and every day, we remember a great man, and especially a great grandfather. Happy Birthday Uva!

It’s Official!

It’s official everyone! I am going to BOLIVIA this April for a month. As you know, I’m half Bolivia (on my Dad’s side) so I have tons of familia out there.
I’m so stoked because I haven’t been there in almost 10 years! Last time I went I was there for three months. I got to visit La Paz (the capital), Cochabamba, and Santa Cruz. I even met the President of Bolivia (Hugo Banzer) one day chillin’ in Downtown La Paz. I was like, “Is that the President?” and my Uncle was like, “Yes, would you like to meet him?” I was like, “HELL YEAH!” So we walked up to him and my uncle introduced me to the president. He was super nice and then we walked away and I was like all happy… then almost as we were a block away, I realized I had my camera on me the whole time and so I asked my uncle if we could go back and take a picture with him… so we went back and the bodyguard actually ended up taking the picture of us. My mom, Uncle, and me with President Banzer. It was sooooooooooo cool!
Half my family lives in La Paz and the other half in Cochabamba pretty much. My dad has 8 brothers and sisters so just imagine how many cousins that means I have out there. Yep! Too many!!! The sweet part of it is that they are all of my same age group. So it should be lots of fun.
The plan is for us to go to La Paz… see some family, party, etc. and then head to TARIJA, which is my Dad’s hometown. I’m going to be able to see the house where he was born and raised in and meet the family that I have out there too. They are soooo nice there. I talk to them on MSN Messenger and we are already making plans. My Dad’s birthday actually is April 15th which is Tarija Day… they through a big huge festival for like a week long celebrating their city, which is awesome because my dad will be able to celebrate his birthday in the same place he grew up. I know this trip is going to be amazing. After going to Tarija, my cousin says he’s going to drive us to ARGENTINA. Because Tarija is right on the border and we have more familia in Salta, Argentina. So I’m going to be able to meet some of my dad’s Aunts and Uncles for the very first time… not to mention all his cousins there.
I bought the plane tickets yesterday for a great price! So I figured it was safe to tell everyone I’m officially going. This time it’s for real bitches!!!!
